Aug 08, 22...The Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST) Senior Research Officer, Mr. Ts'epo Ntho officiated a two-day annual Students science fair at Lesotho College of Education (LCE).
On behalf of MCST, he commended Lesotho Science and Mathematics Teachers Association (LSMTA) for always partnering with MCST in uplifting the love for Mathematics and Science amongst students.
He called all to give students more support so that their brilliance through showcasing science and Mathematics projects-based creativities can achieve huge strides.
He stated that enactment of Science and Technology Bill is a signal that Government through MCST is on track towards enhancing science-based solutions.
Moreover, he mentioned that MCST is also working on research and innovation policy, adding this will go a long way in realising funding aspects.
He expressed hope that the projects to be showcased by students will not only win at the fair but serve as an endeavor to create jobs.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Lesotho College of Education Rector, Dr. John Dzimba said he is proud to see students gathered together in an attempt to showcase their science and Mathematics projects.
Also speaking, LSMTA President, Mr. Justice Mapheko commended participants of this year's competition.
He expressed hope that after Covid - 19, students are bringing in ideas and projects that will bring solutions and improve Lesotho's economy.
Students will compete in categories that include electronics, research and collection, environment and technology amongst others. Those who will make it to the top will further participate at the regional competition.
Those attending are students from primary and post primary level in the eight districts. Only Butha-Buthe and Quthing did not participate due to unforeseen circumstances.
