September 10, 2024 – In a significant step towards enhancing digital skills within the Lesotho Mounted Police Services (LMPS), Alliance Insurance Company has donated fourteen laptops and fourteen desktop computers.
The donation, made at the Maseru Central Police, aims to support the LMPS in combating the growing threat of cybercrime in the country.
Deputy Police Commissioner Mr. Sera Makharilele, speaking during the event, emphasized the importance of the contribution, noting that it addresses a critical need for the police force as cybercrime continues to rise.
"Today, we celebrate alongside Basotho as we receive these essential tools. This donation will strengthen our ability to combat cybercrime, which is a growing concern,"Mr. Makharilele remarked. He expressed appreciation for the recognition and support from Alliance Insurance Company.
Financial Director of Alliance Insurance, Mr. Mohapinyane Taole expressed gratitude to LMPS for the opportunity to assist them in this vital area. "Our longstanding partnership with the LMPS has made it clear that they require support in this digital era. We believe this donation will contribute to the growth and effectiveness of the police force, and by extension, to the safety of Lesotho."
Police Commissioner Advocate Borotho Matsoso also shared his heartfelt thanks, saying, "I extend my deepest gratitude to Alliance Insurance Company for recognizing our need and stepping in to help. This donation not only brings hope to the LMPS but to the entire nation, as we continue our fight against crime, particularly cybercrime."
