Dec 01, 2021--Research development is critical in fuelling innovation and improving Lesotho’s economic growth, MCST Minister, Honourable Ts’oinyana Rapapa has said.
He said this on the last day of the final event of the Research and Innovation Policy, where the Policy Support (PSF) of the Organisation of the African, Caribbean Pacific States (OACPS) service in Lesotho was officially closed.
This means a team of local and internal arena experts have successfully completed Research and Innovation Policy recommendation report, thus handed it over to MCST, department of Science headed by Mr. Lefa Thamae.
Therefore, the Minister applauded these experts for their commendable efforts, saying through this policy aligned with Lesotho’s NSDP II, positive strides meant to develop the society economically and otherwise will be realised.
Some of the recommendations meant to ensure smooth implementation of the policy as proposed by Science Director, Mr. Lefa Thamae are: to put aside a specific budget item for implementation, to continue collaboration beyond policy framework amongst others.
Various stakeholders participated in this event namely: the Minister of Trade and Industry, Honourable Thabiso Molapo, CEO UN bank, Mr. Joshua Setipa, experts from the National University of Lesotho who participated in the formulation of the policy as well as Senior Officers in Government.
