Aug 12, 2021...Following adoption of the Media Policy by National Reforms Authority (NRA), the authority submitted the document to the Minister of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST), Honourable Ts’oinyana Rapapa and his team for comments.
This will go a long way in ensuring that when the Minister submit and present the policy before Cabinet Ministers at a later stage, it becomes a working document that has been appreciated by all concerned stakeholders.
Therefore, the Honourable Minister welcomed NRA Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Ts’iu Khatibe at a meeting with MCST team today. The purpose of the meeting is to amongst others share and integrate emerging comments. As such, the Minister reassured Government willingness and commitment in achieving reforms agenda as articulated by the public.
In this manner, NRA Deputy CEO, Mr. Ts’iu Khatibe is impressed that both his team and that of the Ministry of Communications have common understanding in relation to the said document except in some areas where their understanding differs on use of words.
Therefore, he assured the Ministry that theirs is to offer technical support to NRA committees currently and actively partaking in the implementation process hence today's meeting with the Ministry.
The media forms part of the seven thematic area under reforms of which the society clearly stipulated that due to the power of the media, this industry must be reformed for the purposes of transforming Lesotho, thus do away with polarised media as result of party politics to mention but a few.
