June 30, 2021…The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Honourable Tsóinyana Rapapa attended a closed meeting with National Reforms Authority (NRA) media committee.


Following their meeting, the Minister said the purpose was to deliberate on media policy currently before NRA as well as to discuss other issues relating to local media. He said NRA has final draft of the policy adding it will later be submitted to the Ministry of Communications. “I am hopeful that the Ministry’s team will advise accordingly so that the bill can be presented before Cabinet for approval,” he said.


The Minister indicates that during a meeting with NRA he has learnt that some issues to be reformed under constitution also have a likelihood of affecting the media. In the same way, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr. Tsíu Khadhibe expressed appreciation saying today’s meeting will pave way forward on how best NRA can collaborate with the Ministry and other stakeholders so as to avoid duplication.


The said policy  is meant to provide direction and best practices in terms of how media personnel should conduct themselves, amongst others. Present at the meeting was the Special Advisor to NRA media committee, Mr. Mzimkhulo Sithetho as well as other committee members.There are seven areas under reforms namely constitution, judiciary and media to mention but a few.
