February 17, 2021--The newly appointed Minister of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST), Honourable Keketso Sello has issued public apology after the national television failed to broadcast live the 2021/22 fiscal budget.
According to the Minister, the audience was glued to their television sets hoping to get in details the Honourable Minister of Finance, Mr. Thabo Sophonia’s speech.
“I am aware that all including our diaspora were waiting for live broadcast while there was no live presentation on Parliament, for this we truly apologise,” he stresses.
He indicates, it is not acceptable that on a special day like today the state television was unable to deliver such an important occasion.
Therefore, he mentions that he is awaiting engineers report in this regard adding the Ministry will investigate this matter so as to understand exactly what transpired.

He said this week, television has been able to broadcast Parliament matters, the more reason why this matters has to be investigated deeply.

This year’s budget comes at the time when the country is battling COVID-19. It was presented before Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Lebohang Ramohlanka.
