January 13, 2021...A few hours before total lockdown meant to regress COVID-19 cases surge, the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST) management plans ahead.
This is so because despite the current ordeal, this Ministry is tasked with a responsibility to ensure information dissemination so as to keep all informed.
Therefore, while the Ministry's management acknowledges that its journalists, reporters, radio and television anchors are not immune to COVID-19, today's meeting is meant to be a pro active engagement meant to ensure they (journalists) are protected while doing work in this period.
Numbers of those to be on shifts have been reduced as per Minister's instruction last week and above all as per the new normal rules and regulations of avoiding crowds.
Even though the Ministry is reported to have some of its employees affected by the outbreak management is hopeful all shall be well and trusting on the team to deliver timely and accurate news for the benefit of the audience.
Today's meeting aspires to have all state media platforms working in somidarity so that all Basotho despite their socio economic status access COVID-19 messages.
The plan of action by MCST management today is meant to honour and ensure implementation of this shutdown as per the Honourable Prime Minister's (PM) request on the state media last night.
Amongst others, the PM Dr. Moeketsi Majoro strongly calls the nation to abide by COVID-19 regulations, particularly those pertaining to red such as movement restrictions whereby only entities offering essential services will be the only ones operating.
The PM is expected to give an update again on January 27, 2021(after fourteen days of lockdown).
