January 06, 2020--The Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST) three year Strategic Plan (2020/21- 2022/23) aspires to:

Transform postal services from current physical delivery into a digital service delivery, develop new services and products that add value through digital connection, improve visibility and control of mail and packaging of customer’s parcels.

As this is the wish and so is the desire by the Manager Lesotho Postal Services (LPS) in Butha-Buthe, Mrs. ‘Malethole Matela who is definite that being a member of Universal Postal Union, they have to fit in by offering quality services needed in today’s modern world.

She says, the newly technological service introduced by LPS otherwise e-Government is part of their efforts to slowly reach other to customers in today’s dynamic and fast moving world.

She explains that this service allows clients to pay for services digitally and at the comfort of their homes, without necessarily having to be there in person.

“This is a step ahead especially at this difficult time when the world is battling the novel Corona Virus, whereby all ought to avoid crowds as they are key spreaders of the disease,” she adds.

Moreover, she notes that instead of people having to travel long distances by cars to transport parcels from one place to the other, they can now entrust Postal Services to do that on their behalf at a minimal prices.

She concludes by urging members of the society to utilise these service for the purposes of avoiding crowds in this era of COVID-19. LPS is a department under MCST.
