Lack of transport will now be a thing of the past for Lesotho National Broadcasting Services (LNBS) after Alliance Insurance this week donated a Quantum vehicle to the Broadcaster.

The vehicle is meant to alleviate the dearth of transportation for LNBS staff. Speaking during the handing over ceremony, the Acting Director General of the LNBS Ms. Mothepane Kotele, who expressed gratitude to Alliance Insurance, explained that the donation was part of a three-year partnership, to a tune of M1.5 Million between LNBS and Alliance Insurance.

She commended Alliance Group for keeping up to the promise, also mentioning that under the agreement, another vehicle was previously donated which serves the Marketing and Sales department of the LNBS. “Collection of revenue has increased since we had the vehicle as staff were able to reach different areas,” she said, adding, “we as the national broadcaster, are entrusted with making sure that the nation gets timely and accurate news. This vehicle will therefore go a long way in helping us deliver on this mandate.”

Next in line under the partnership, will be rebranding of broadcasting studios.

Receiving the vehicle, the Minister of Communications, Chief Thesele ‘Maseribane commended Alliance Group for the generous gift which he said fulfils implementation of Goal 17 of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) that focuses on global partnerships for sustainable development and calls on governments to partner with the private sector to attain development.

He urged drivers to avoid over speeding and staff alike to take care of the vehicle and ensure that it serves the purpose intended for, stating, “as we approach the festive season do not drink and drive, as alcohol affects the visibility of a person and could lead to unnecessary road fatalities.”

On behalf of Alliance Insurance Mr Mohapinyane Taole highlighted that the gesture was a token of appreciation to the community through the LNBS and a way of giving back to society in line with their motto which says, ‘Always there for Basotho.’

He mentioned that they found it befitting to support LNBS as the previously donated vehicle is still in good condition. “I hope this vehicle will help to achieve your goals and mandate, we are very proud to partner with you,’’ he added.

The vehicle donated previously for the Sales and Marketing department was a seven seater.
