Maseru, June 25 2020--The Honourable  Minister of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST), Chief Thesele Maseribane  appeals to Basotho especially the media to set a new agenda aimed at tackling the war against Corona Virus (COVID-19).

Sharing his point of view and that of government regarding the state of COVID-19  crisis and or emergency in the country, the Minister who is also Government Spokesperson expressed concern that the nation continue to be divided on different media platforms particularly social media.

He specifies that COVID-19 has set a new agenda, leaving all with no choice but to move from petty party political issues and start focusing on how best to contain the spread of the virus as more continue to be affected by the disease.

Therefore, he strongly calls media professionals to change torn, start tapping into the emotions of the society positively as some are at the edge of losing their loved ones due to the pandemic while many have already lost their jobs.

“Issues of Corona Virus are macro external ones, as such economies of the world including that of Lesotho are declining, the more reason to give hope to the society even in this situation,” he stressed.

In conclusion, he assures the nation that in his capacity as the Minister of Communications as well as responsibilities tasked to him as Government Spokesperson, he will work hard in partnership with the media and other stakeholders to ensure that going forward COVID-19 messages top the agenda countrywide.
