January 18, 2023… In an attempt to strengthen working relations as well as to explore new avenues in the modernization era, the Lesotho News Agency (LENA), a department under the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) along with the Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA) held a virtual meeting today.
This meeting attracted amongst others Director General, ICT Mr. Thapeli Tjabane along with Director ICT, Mr. Khiba Masiu and Director Public Relations, Mr. Ramakhula Ramakhula to mention but a few.
In her opening remarks, LENA Director, Ms. Moroa Mopeli highlighted the importance of this mutual virtual meeting in the modernization era. She said LENA has since been working with NAMPA in terms of systems hence the ability to distribute news to LENA clientele.
Therefore, the upgrading of the current LENA system came out to be top of the agenda so that real-time ways and means of information dissemination are indeed tangible in today’s dynamic world.
The Government of Lesotho founded LENA in 1983. The agency was revived through the support of UNESCO in 1985. As such, LENA under the motto ‘First with News,’ continues to serve the nation including the global community. Locally, it has Reporters across various parts of the country.
Equally, NAMPA is the national news agency of the Republic of Namibia. It was founded in 1987. The state owned agency is responsible for news distribution and picture services to local and international customers.
