Aug 10, 2022...The newly appointed Principal Secretary (PS), Mr. Lira Moeti in the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST) has announced the resumption of the salary advance service for Public Servants.

Therefore, the PS is officially informing Government Ministries that the said service, which was on hold for a while, resumes in September 2022.

Meanwhile, an announcement that is Savingram is currently circulating in different Government Ministries for reference. Public Servants can contact +266 22327363 in order to get details pertaining to the service.

One of the Public Servants in the Ministry of Public Works who opted for anonymity told MCST online communication platforms that salary advance is a noble initiative by the Government making more sense now than ever due to the plight of Covid-19.

He stated that sanctioning a loan from a bank is no small task but the salary advance is much more convenient with its flexible amount and interest rates of 10%.

Some of the requirements to access this service include a pay slip, meaning to get an advance for the month of September, one must possess an August payslip and such a person should have been a Public Servant for at least two years.

MCST has a vision of being a vibrant information hub, leaders in technology and research moving towards a prosperous, innovative, stable, and sustainable democracy and knowledge-based society.
